We are a boutique eco-tourism company that focuses on sustainable travel. We intend to preserve Brazil’s incredible biodiversity and celebrate its rich culture with you! You could never receive the same experience from a travel agent selling tourism in mass that a personally designed Green Roots Travel experience will provide. Traveling is our passion and we have the recipe for a perfect Brazilian holiday.
What are your trips like? What can I expect from a vacation with Green Roots Travel?
Our trips are suitable for anyone with a positive attitude, a reasonable fitness level, and a desire to explore unique destinations. Brazil will probably be very different from your home country, so keep an open mind! That is exactly what makes it such an incredible destination. We always combine the perfect measure of Brazilian culture and natural beauty with an element of adventure. You may have experiences like hiking and biking, snorkeling or diving.
The most important thing is that we get to know you first, and then we recommend experiences you will enjoy. We will offer as much or as little support as you need, without taking away your independence or cramping your style. With Green Roots Travel, you will always have individualized service, private guides and private eco-friendly vehicles.
What is included in your trips?
All of our trips include your accommodation, private transfers, and transportation to and from suggested experiences. Our Exclusive Adventures include the services of a full-time Cultural Ambassador. For a custom designed Unique Experience you will also have the services of a Cultural Ambassador in some activities.
All of our trips include at least one meal per day. Some trips include lunches or dinners in charming restaurants. If the trip requires an in-country flight, we will make all of the logistical arrangements and the flight will be included.
Is my international flight included in the trip price?
Your international flight is NOT included in the trip price. Most people use miles and have different airline preferences these days so we leave it up to you to make your own arrangements.
Who is the Cultural Ambassador?
The Cultural Ambassador is a friendly bilingual guide, who is passionate and knowledgeable about Brazil. He or she serves as a cultural bridge, interpreter, group leader and full-time concierge. The Cultural Ambassador helps you to breach the communications gap to taste the flavors, dance to the music, see the colorful landscapes, meet the friendly people, hear their stories, and walk away a more aware and fulfilled traveler.
What kind of support will I receive once I am in Brazil?
Green Roots travel is in charge of all the logistics of your trip from the time you arrive in Brazil to the time you leave for your home country. Also, you can always count on your Cultural Ambassadors to answer any immediate questions you may have. As our client, you are only one phone call away from our office during your entire trip, and will receive all the support you need from our Brazilian office, and from our office in the USA.
What are the places we travel to like?
Brazil is a beautiful and exotic paradise that will exceed even the most experienced traveler’s expectations. We often travel to UNESCO world- heritage sites and amazing national parks. We include the must-sees of Brazil and also take you off the beaten path to special places, so you feel more like a traveler and less like a tourist. These are the experiences that make your trip unique and memorable.
Are your trips kid friendly?
Yes, Brazil is very family-oriented and we definitely have itineraries that are kid friendly. Taking their enjoyment into consideration, we recommend that children are 8 years of age or older.
What kind of accommodations do we stay in?
It depends on your personal travel style. From charming inns with gracious hosts, to the finest luxury hotels and eco-resorts, Green Roots Travel has the scoop on the best destinations in Brazil.
What else is not included in the trip price?
Travel Insurance is not included and recommended. Meals are not included, unless specified. Tips for Cultural Ambassadors and local guides are optional and not included. Any additional experiences not mentioned in your final itinerary are not included.

Through our carefully planned operations, our local friends and partners, and our network of reputable guides, Green Roots Travel has revolutionized and personalized group travel. Within our small groups, you can be yourself and receive the individual attention that you deserve.
How many travelers usually come on the Exclusive Adventures?
Our Exclusive Adventures are usually made up of 4-10 travelers. By keeping the groups small, we focus on you, so your experience is genuine and fulfills your expectations. Our small groups make less of an environmental impact and also enable us to gain access to charming locations, restaurants and hotels, thus creating a more intimate experience.
Is it safe to travel to Brazil?
Brazil is sometimes perceived as unsafe because often the media only portrays negative coverage, particularly in Rio. While the difference between rich and poor is apparent in Brazil, and pockets of crime do exist, it is not an unsafe place. As in any big city in the world, one must use common sense when traveling. This is why we feel it is important to have local guidance when traveling to a foreign country. Please see our Brazil Fact Sheet for some more tips about being travel savvy in Brazil.
Do I need any vaccinations?
Most of the time no vaccinations are needed if coming from North America or Europe. But one may be recommended in certain areas within Brazil, such as the Amazon. Always check with the US Govt. Center for Disease Control for the most up to date travel information on Brazil. Go to: http://www.cdc.gov/travel/.
Do I need a visa to enter Brazil?
Brazil follows the principle of reciprocity for Visas. If your home country requires Brazilians to have a visa, then you will be required to have one to enter Brazil. As of January 2009 Americans, Canadians, Australian and New Zealand citizens need a visa to travel to Brazil. Citizens on the UK, Ireland and most other EU countries as well as South Africa do not. Please check with the Brazilian consulate in your home Country for information. Our Travel Specialists will be happy to point you in the right direction.
How is Green Roots Travel "green"?
Green Roots Travel is committed to sustainable travel in Brazil. We support environmental programs such as the Tamar Project, the Hyacinth Macaw Project, and the Blue-fronted Parrot Project. Green Roots Travel pays to offset the carbon footprint of all our guests by donating to programs reforesting the Atlantic Rainforest in Brazil. We get involved in the "roots" of the communities we visit and educate all of our guests about Brazil's biodiversity and cultural heritage.
